Changes to Schedule

Filed under: Uncategorized — uninvoked @ 9:15 pm

I went in to work today, and found out my services are no longer needed. I knew it would come eventually in this economy, but I really was not looking forward to it. Because of this, I need to spend most or all of my time looking for a job.

Obviously as a short story writer, my novel writing isn’t a little rusty, or else I’d ask a trade of some kind–those who want to continue reading can add something to the tip jar, that sort of deal. Maybe someday eh? In the mean time, here are some of my published short stories for your entertainment:

10 tips for a dirty horse stall

All Keyed Up

The Good Unicorn

Also Dragon Psychology available for purchase at http://www.sniplits.com

Thank you for reading this far. I am not giving up on Uninvoked, just saying that it will be updated on a “Whenever I have time” basis.

  2. Thank you. I hope to find a new job in the same area soon, and get back to writing once again.

  3. I’ve recently been laid off too, so I know how you feel.

Good luck. (Both job and writing.)

  4. Thanks. Maybe we should all come together and form an online refuge for writers. -.- I volunteer my forums if someone wants to help me change it around.

  5. Oh dear, I’m so sorry to hear your news.

I’ve just resigned from my job, which sometimes feels like it wasn’t quite the right thing to do given the worldwide economic crisis. But in many other more personal, emotional ways it feels like exactly the right step because it was time for change. While my decision was a more active one (though initiated by the peculiar bureaucratic tangles of a university), yours wasn’t. Being retrenched – or ‘dis-’employed by your employer really isn’t nice.

I hope you can turn things around by recognising and honouring all your skills – as a writer of such an incredible, wide range of stories (computers, horses, unicorns!) you definitely have more skills and abilities (perhaps still untapped?) than you give yourself credit for. And PLEASE keep writing. 🙂

  15. I’m sorry to hear this. I wish you all the luck in finding another job–or making your own! When I was laid off 2 years ago, I started my own company, using my skill sets in a new direction. Perhaps this is something to consider. I do hope you continue to write–it’s a great outlet, and who knows where it could lead! If you don’t mind, I’ll continue to read and comment on your posts/pages.

  16. Hey!

Thanks for the comment on my site. Sorry to hear you got “downsized, surplus to requirement” – it’s happened to me before. I’m sure you’ll find something even better very soon.

Again, thank you for the comment.
